Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Store keeps crashing

One of the advantages if you're an android user is, you can easily download and install an application on your phone. However, just like any smartphones, issues will suddenly occur without apparent reason like; app crashing or unable to open.

So, in this article, we will tackle issue that users were always complaining about like Google Play Store that keeps on crashing. We have to consider all factors that might causing your Play Store to crash every now and then.

 Here are the possibilities your Play Store to crash:

  • Corrupted Play Store files and data.
  • Corrupted System files and data.
  • Incompatible third-party apps in the system.
  • Outdated Google Play Store App.
 The purpose of these troubleshooting procedures that you should do it on your phone will help you determine the real factor why your Play Store app keeps on crashing. However, if your Galaxy S4 had been dropped or soaked in the water before the issue started, then, we recommend you to immediately bring it to the nearest in your area for your device might have a hardware issue. 

Step 1: Restart your Galaxy S4
This a very basic procedure, in which, we should have to restart your phone to refresh it's memory and close all running applications in the background. Although there is no assurance if the issue will be fixed but there were users saying that after performing the procedure the issue is no anymore happening. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the back cover and pull the battery out.
  2. Press and hold the Power key for 30 seconds.
  3. Replace the battery and then the back cover.
  4. Turn the phone on.
  5. Now observe closely if the phone would still turn off or reboot.
After restarting your phone turn it on and see if the issue still happening. If the problem still occur, then, jump over to the next procedure.

Step 2: Reboot your phone in Safe mode
Just like what I've said earlier, there is a chance that third-party apps might causing the issue on your phone to occur. So, this time, we have to reboot your phone in safe mode. This will temporarily disable all third-party apps in the and letting all built-in ones to run in the system. Here's how:
  1. Turn the device off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Power button.
  3. Once the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo appears on the screen, release the Power button.
  4. As soon as you release the Power button, press and hold the Volume Down key.
  5. Continue holding the Volume Down key until the phone has completed the reboot process.
  6. If you can read ‘Safe Mode‘ at the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down key. Otherwise, repeat the process until you can boot the phone to Safe Mode.
If your Play Store won't crash while on Safe mode, then, obviously there's an app you need to find and uninstall it from the system to resolve the issue. However, if the issue still continue to occur even in this mode, follow the next step.

Step 3: Wipe the System Cache Partition
App-related issues like crashing mostly occur if the system files and data of the phone is corrupt or outdated. If you're not familiar with, these files and data are the one responsible to make the device run smoothly and efficiently. So, if these files and data are ruined especially if you installed new firmware, then, that would be the one of the reasons that the issue is happening on your Galaxy S4. Through this procedure, we will try to delete everything so that newer ones will be generated by the system and compatible to the firmware. 
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
  3. When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power key to select. The phone will automatically restart after the cache is wiped.
Step 4: Create a backup and reset your phone
Remember, doing a reset on your phone should be the last resort that you can do if all procedures you performed above failed to resolve the problem. You need to create a backup on your important files and data or transferred it to your SD card or PC because all will be deleted once you begin to follow the steps. Although this procedure is much more complicated and needs time but if this is just an app-related issue,then, resetting your device will surely fix it. This is how to do it:
  1. Turn the phone off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.
  3. Release the Power button when the phone vibrates but continue holding on to the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release both the Home and Volume Up buttons.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  6. Press the Power button to select it.
  7. Using the Volume Down button again, highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  8. Press the Power key to select it.
  9. Once the reset is complete, choose ‘Reboot system now.’
  10. Press the Power button to restart the phone.
