Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S4 battery drain issue

If your phone's battery is draining fast, there are plenty of reasons that we should consider why it is happening. Sometimes, this could be caused by several apps running simultaneously in the system or the battery itself is defective that is why it is draining fast. In this post, I'll discuss one of the complaints we received earlier about Samsung Galaxy S4 battery drain issue. So, what we have to do now is to figure it out all factors through performing a step by step procedure until we can find a solution on the problem.

Step 1: Verify if the battery is not swollen
Before you proceed and perform any troubleshooting procedures it is imperative that you should check if the battery is defective or not. To do this, just simply remove the battery and place it on flat surface or on your table and flick it. If the battery spin freely, then, obviously it is defective and that may be the reason your battery drains faster. But if it won't spin when you flick it, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Check all Apps running in the system
As I said earlier, if there are several apps running simultaneously and eating the power that would be the reason that your battery drains fast. So, what we have to do now is to check all apps in the system and eating most of the battery. You can close those apps you're not using and see if the issue is still the same. Here's how:

  1. Press the Home key.
  2. The list of apps will appear on your screen.
  3. Tap the Task Manager.
  4. Tap the Finish button next to the application you want to close.
After you remove those unnecessary apps in the system, use your phone for several hours and see if the issue still persists. If so, then try the next method.

Step 3: Wipe the System Cache Partition
Occasionally, if the system cache and data are outdated and could not be recognized by the firmware that would caused as well some performance-related issues. In this case, we have to delete all stored files and data in the partition so that fresher ones will be created. Follow these steps:
  1. Press the following three buttons at the same time: Power key, Home key and Volume Up key.
  2. Release the Power key when the vibrates but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and Home key.
  3. When the Android System Recovery appears, release both Volume Up key and Home key.
  4. Using the Volume Down button, highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
  5. Press the Power button to select the option.
  6. The phone will automatically restart once the cache data is wiped out.
When system cache partition is done, observe closely if the battery still draining fast. If so, jump over to the next step.

Step 4: Perform Master reset
Remember, this method is more complicated compared to the previous procedures that you performed because all your saved files will be deleted once you proceed to the steps. So, before you performed the method, we suggest you to create a backup for all your files on your phone. But the good thing about doing a reset is, if your phone was bugged or has software-related issues this method will fix it. This is how you do the reset:
  1. Turn the phone off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
  3. Release the Power button when the phone vibrates but continue holding on to the Volume Up and Home keys.
  4. When the Android System Recovery appears on the screen, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Using the Volume Down key highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset.'
  6. Press the Power button to select it.
  7. Using the Volume Down button again, highlight 'delete all user data.'
  8. Press the Power key to select it.
  9. Once the reset is complete, choose 'Reboot system now.'
  10. Press the Power button to restart button to restart the phone.
After the reset use your phone and do not install any apps to see if the battery still draining abnormally. If so, then, you can buy a new one for there is a big chance that the battery is faulty.
