Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 keeps locking up and rebooting after an update

Hello readers! In this troubleshooting guide I'll be discussing one of the most common issues that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users were always complaining, which is the rebooting and locking up problem after the update.  As a matter of fact, there are lots of factors to consider that might contribute that this issue occur. It could be caused by corrupt system, faulty battery and an incompatible app that you have downloaded on your device. So, to troubleshoot this problem all you need to do is to perform the steps listed below.

Step 1: Charge your phone until full
Before you perform any troubleshooting on your Galaxy Note 4 it is imperative that you should charge your phone first to be sure that there's sufficient energy stored in the battery that could power up the hardware components and able to turn on when you do so. While it is connected let the device charge until the battery is full and proceed to the next method.

Step 2: Restart in Safe mode
When the battery is already full the next thing that you should do is to boot it in safe mode. This is a diagnostic state wherein all third-party apps will be disabled temporarily and only the built-in ones will  be running in the system. If the device function normally while in this mode, then there's an app you need to find and uninstall to resolve the issue. Here's how:

  1. Turn off the phone completely.
  2. Press and hold the Power key and Volume Down key.
  3. When the phone starts to boot, release the Power key but continue holding the Volume Down key until the phone finished restarting.
  4. Safe mode will be displayed at the lower left corner, you may release the Volume Down key now.
If the issue still happening while in this mode, move to the next step.

Step 3: Delete the System Cache Partition
Although there is no assurance if the issue will be fixed after clearing the cache partition but there were reports from other users saying that after performing the method the device starts to function normally. So, what we have to do now, is to delete those old files and data stored in the directory of the phone so that the device can create newer ones. 
  1. Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
  2. Press and hold the Volume key, Home key and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release both Home and Power keys but continue holding the Volume Up key.
  4. When the Android System recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up key.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option 'Wipe cache partition' and press the Power key to select it.
  6. When wiping the cache partition is finished, highlight 'Reboot system now'and hit the Power key.
So, after you do the method use again your phone and observe if the problem still persists, if so, then you don't have a choice but to reset your phone.

Step 4: Perform Master reset
If the device still not functioning normally after clearing the cache partition, then there is a chance that your phone was bugged or experiencing a serious firmware issue. In this instance, all you need to do is to reset your Galaxy Note 4. But before you can do the reset be sure to create a backup for all your files because it will be erased after the method. 
  1. Turn off the Galaxy Note 4 completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key and Power key together.
  3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  4. When the 'Android System recovery screen appears, release Volume Up key.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe cache/factory reset and press the Power key to select it.
  6. Now, highlight 'Yes- delete all user data using the Volume Down key and press the Power key to begin the reset.
  7. When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power key.
  8. The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual.When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
