You can still be able to connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 to other networks that your provider supports even when you are outside your home network area. This is made possible with the phone's roaming feature.  However, there may be some extra costs for accessing networks while roaming.

Below are the steps to verify and configure Roaming Settings on your Samsung Galaxy S5 for your reference (that's if you need further assistance) with the entire process.

  1. Tap on the Apps menu from the Home screen to begin with.
  1. Tap to select Settings next.
  1. Tap on More Networks option.
  2. Select Roaming to get to the roaming screen.

  1. Configure the following Roaming options on your GS 5 handset:

    1. Roaming Network - This option will let you choose a roaming default. You may choose from any of the following settings:

      1. Home only -- an option to only connect a specific network provider or ISP.

      1. Automatic -- an option to allow connections to the ISP's partner networks when available.

    1. Roaming Settings - This will let you select options for roaming such as Voice and data for Domestic CDMA and International CDMA networks, as well as Data for GSM networks (if supported by your phone).

    1. Roaming Guard - This will let you select options for preventing roaming for certain functions. You may opt to enable or disable roaming access for Domestic CDMA, Voice, Data and Outgoing SMS for International CDMA networks, as well as Voice, Data and Outgoing SMS for GSM networks (if supported by your phone).

Be sure to verify these options on your mobile phone settings ahead, if you don't want to pay for any additional charges for network access while roaming.
