Modern smartphones like the new Samsung Galaxy S5 really make things a lot easier for humans to accomplish. With these devices, almost everything is now made mobile. As a matter of fact, you may now perform mobile health check, mobile purchase/payment, and even mobile printing. Yes, with a Wi-Fi access, you can instantly print files/contents from your Galaxy S5 to an optional compatible printer. Both the printer and your phone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network to avoid any issue.

If you want to try printing some documents/photos using your Galaxy S5 handset, read on to learn how to configure certain printer settings and get started with your printing job and have it done as expected.

// Enable/Disable Print Services on the Galaxy S5

One thing you need to do before you print from your phone is to enable or turn on a print service on your device. The print service tells the printer when you select something to print.
Here's how to enable the print service on your GS 5.

1. Tap on Apps from the Home screen.

2. Tap to select Settings.

3. Look for the Printing icon and tap on it. You will be prompted with a list of print service to choose from.

4. Select a print service from the given list.

Hint:
By default, the Samsung Print Service is available.

5. Turn on or enable the service, by tapping the ON/OFF switch. It has to be ON for you to configure settings or print.

// Add a Printer

A printer must be set up on the phone before you can print to it. You will also need to know the printer's IP address to complete the process. In this case, you may need to consult the printer's documentation for this information.

Once you have everything ready, you may now begin adding a printer on your phone. Here's how to do it:

1. Tap on Apps from the Home screen.

2. Tap to select Settings.

3. Tap on the Printing icon to continue. You will be prompted with a list of print service available.

4. Select a print service from the given list.

5. Tap on the ON/OFF switch to turn the service ON. The switch must be turned ON or enabled for you to add a printer successfully.

6. Tap on the Menu icon (represented by a dot/grid-like symbol).

7. Tap to select Add Printer.

8. Tap on the + (plus) sign to continue.

9. Enter a name of the printer and the IP address. Once done, proceed with print settings configuration.

// Configure Print Settings on the Galaxy S5

You can choose your preferred options for printing from your phone. Here's how to configure your phone's print settings:

1. Tap on Apps from the Home screen.

2. Tap to select Settings.

3. Tap on the Printing icon to continue.

4. From the given list, select a print service and tap on the ON/OFF switch to enable or turn on the service.

Note:
You need to enable the switch to successfully add a printer to use with your phone.

5. Tap on the Menu icon (dot/grid-like symbol) to continue.

6. To configure options, tap on Settings.

Note:
Available options may vary depending on the type of printer. Among the common options to configure include the following:

·         2-Sided Printing for Documents - To print one page per piece of paper, just select Simplex option. To print on both sides, select Long Edge or Short Edge. Long and Short edge describes how the pages flip when moving through multiple pages.

·         Secure Release - Some printers support Secure Release and if it is enabled, you need to enter a User ID in order to retrieve your printouts. Just tap on Secure Release and then type in the correct User ID to proceed.

·         Confidential Print - If Confidential Printing is supported by and enabled in the printer, you need to enter a User ID and Password to retrieve your printouts. Just tap on Confidential Print and then type in the User ID and Password to continue.

·         Job Accounting - If the printer supports Job Accounting and it is enabled, you need to provide a User ID and a Password when printing. Doing so will track printing by group or sets.

·         Version - This is where you can view the version of the print service software on the device.

·         Open Source Licenses - This is where you can view licenses relevant to the print service software.

·         About - This contains information on the print service software.

Now that you know of the common options available, you may now continue with Settings configuration and then test print to see if it works.
